Getting Started with Cypress

Cypress is a powerful end-to-end testing framework for modern web applications. Follow these steps to begin your Cypress journey:

  1. Install Node.js

    Ensure you have the latest version of Node.js installed. Download it from the official Node.js website.

  2. Set Up Your Project

    Create a new project or navigate to an existing one:

    cd path/to/your/project

  3. Initialize Your Project

    Generate a package.json file with project details:

    npm init -y

  4. Install Cypress

    Add Cypress to your project:

    npm install cypress --save-dev

  5. Launch Cypress

    Open the Cypress Test Runner:

    npx cypress open

    This command launches the Cypress Test Runner interface for creating, executing, and monitoring your tests.

Allure Integration

Allure is a flexible lightweight multi-language test report tool. Here’s how to integrate it with your Cypress project:

Installing Allure

Follow the official Allure installation guide for your operating system.

Cypress Allure Reporter

  1. Install Cypress Allure Reporter

    npm install -D cypress-allure-reporter

  2. Update Cypress Configuration

    Modify your cypress.config.js file to include the Cypress Allure Reporter:

    const { defineConfig } = require('cypress')

    module.exports = defineConfig({
      reporter: 'cypress-allure-reporter',
      // ... other configurations
    })
